The board is designed to allow you to focus out to infinity and as close a 3 feet. the lens has glass that is free from scratches and fungus.
This lens is arguably one on the finest fast modern portrait lenses made. The lens is a Triplet design with modern color coarctated coatings and at f2.5 the depth of field is extremely shallow but when mated to a large format SLR you can focus with confidence.
The duplex QC45 replacement front standards for Graflex 4x5 RB Tele, Series D and Super D SLRs is dimensionally true to the original Graflex front standards and works with the original 3 3/4" Type "B" and works as well as Super D Auto-Diaphragming lenses in there original mounting location. The QC45 front standard also allow you to mount large diameter lenses using forward lens mount and 4½x4.½" (114mm) lens boards for Kodak Eastman D2 5x7's
